The two questions we get most

You're not too old. You're not too unfit.

Everyone thinks both before they book. Here's what our members discovered.

0101 · FITNESS

A full body workout that doesn't feel like a gym.

Strength, conditioning, flexibility, cardio built around technique instead of treadmills. Most adults notice the difference sooner than they expect.

0202 · MENTAL

Sharper mind. Less stress.

A full session of focused training pulls you out of work mode. Better sleep, better focus the next day, real mental clarity. The part most adults don't expect.

0303 · SELF-DEFENCE

Real self-defence. Skills that translate.

Sparring, blocking, controlled contact training. Situational awareness. Not theory. Applied skills you would use under pressure.

DAY 1

Just show up.

"I'd never thrown a punch in my life. Watched the warm up, kept telling myself I could leave at any point. By the end of class I was in there with everyone else. Nobody made it weird."

3 MONTHS IN

STARTING TO FEEL IT.

"Twice a week, no exceptions. Sleeping better, less reactive at work. Started actually looking forward to Tuesday mornings."

6 MONTHS IN

STILL HERE.

"Earned my 7th Kup belt. I'm 42 and the instructors treat me with the same respect as anyone else in the room. The community is something I didn't expect to find."

38
Earned black belt at 41

"Best decision I made at 38. Never thought I'd earn my black belt but here I am. The instructors are patient and the community is outstanding."

Zero fitness to fitter than ever

"Started at 52 with zero fitness. Two years later I'm fitter than I've been in decades. It's never too late."

Why martial artsover the gym?

What members tell us

The gym membership.

"I had a gym membership for two years. Went maybe twelve times. Same workouts, no progress, no reason to show up."

×
No skill progression
Same workouts every week. You leave fitter, but with no new abilities.
×
Easy to ghost
Most memberships go unused after six weeks. Nothing to come back to.
×
Solo + isolating
Headphones in, sets done, leave. Zero accountability.
×
No mental component
Treadmill clears the body. Doesn't clear the head.
What members tell us

Doing it alone.

"I tried YouTube workouts and running. Lasted about three months. No feedback, no community, no real reason to push through the bad weeks."

×
No feedback loop
Bad technique compounds. No instructor to correct form.
×
No structure
Easy to skip. Easy to plateau. Easy to drift.
×
No community
Training partners are why martial arts sticks for life.
×
No real self-defence
You can't pressure test self-defence solo.
OUR APPROACH
The Action TKD difference

Action Tae Kwon-Do.

"Every class has a structure. I'm being taught, not just exercising. Three years in and I'm still learning."

Skill progression that compounds
10-belt pathway. Quarterly gradings. Always something to work on.
Reasons to come back
Belt tests, partner drills, instructors who notice when you miss a week.
Real community
Train alongside the same people for years. Adult friendships that last.
Self-defence under pressure
Sparring, scenario work, controlled contact. Tested, not theorised.

Your first class · honest preview

Exactly what happens.NO SURPRISES

We get it, the unknown is what stops people. So here's a whole class, no surprises.

15 MIN BEFORE

You arrive.

Park (free), find us, give us your name. Come in comfortable clothes, t-shirt, shorts or trackies, bare feet. We give you a quick orientation, point out where to leave your shoes and bag, and get you started.

AT 0:00

Bow in.

Class lines up. The instructor helps you get settled. You're at the back of the line, you copy the person in front of you. That's the whole expectation.

FIRST 10 MIN

Warm-up together.

Light cardio, dynamic stretching, mobility. You'll know within ten seconds if you can keep up, and the answer is yes. Goes at the pace of the whole class, not the fittest person in the room.

MIDDLE 45 MIN

Technique drills.

Instructor teaches a kick or block, demos it, then you practise it. Partner drills with another beginner, usually one of our experienced students who's there to help you, not test you. You'll be corrected gently, no big expectations.

FINAL 5 MIN

Cool down + chat.

Stretch and relax. The instructor will check in with you and other students. Class times and pricing are covered at the end of the session.

What won't happen

The bits you're worried about.

×You won't be made to spar on day one.
×You won't be singled out or asked to demonstrate.
×You won't be embarrassed about fitness, adults of every level start here.

You can leave at any point. Most people don't. Nobody who's stayed for the full hour has regretted it.

BELT PROGRESSION

Teenagers training in Tae Kwon-Do at Action TKD Canberra
청소년 · AGES 12–17

Built for the teenage brain.

For teenagers · 12–17

Discipline.Confidence.Real outlet.

Teenagers face social media pressure, academic stress, and a constant search for identity. Tae Kwon-Do gives them structure, mentors, and visible progress when it matters most.

The unique thing about our program: teens train alongside adults, not in a "kids' class". That maturity matters.

Structure that holds
Clear expectations and consistent training. The structure teenagers need in a non judgmental environment.
Real, earned confidence
Built through graded belt ranks, not social media validation.
Healthy stress outlet
Hard physical work that leaves the head clear. Better sleep. Better focus the next day.
