02 / Programs

Our programs

Four programs. Tigers for age 4. Children's for ages 5 to 11. After School for ages 5 to 11 at school venues. Adults and Teens for 12 and up.

Age four with Tigers. Children's begins at five. There is no upper age limit for adults.

Programs run on school grounds at eight primary schools across Canberra and Queanbeyan after the school day ends. No additional pickup required. Term-time only, for ages 5 to 11.

Yes. The Adults and Teens program is for 12 and up. Taekwondo is technique-based rather than strength-based, so the age range works well in practice.

Many children with ADHD train with us and do well. Many others find it is not the right fit. What we can tell you is what the environment is like. Every class follows the same structure. Same warm-up, same drills, same rules each session. Progress is individual. Your child earns their own belt on their own timeline with no team dependency. Our instructors are experienced across a wide range of learning styles and temperaments. For some children that combination of structure and individual progress works well. For others it does not. A free trial is the most straightforward way to find out.

Some of our most committed long-term students are autistic. The class structure is consistent and predictable. Every session runs the same way. Progress is individual with no reliance on teammates or group performance. Everyone follows the same rules regardless of background. Our instructors are patient and experienced, though the standard does not change. That environment suits many autistic children well. For some families it is not the right match. We will tell you honestly if we think that is the case. A free trial gives you a clear picture.

03 / Gradings & Progress

Belts & progress

Gradings are held throughout the year. Your instructor invites you when you are ready. You do not apply. Each grading tests technique, patterns and sparring appropriate to your current level.

Two to three years of consistent training for most students. There are no shortcuts and we do not suggest otherwise.

Gradings come around regularly. If you miss a grading simply wait until the next one.

We are a non-competition based Tae Kwon-Do school. We follow the traditional self-defence style of Tae Kwon-Do which translates across all our programs.

A structured environment with individual progression and clear expectations tends to suit anxious children well. There is no group performance pressure and no team reliance. Progress happens at your child's pace. Our instructors are experienced with children who need more time to settle. Most parents report noticeable change within the first couple of months.
